A recent IDC white paper survey of medium to large enterprises and their data center servers found that 55 percent of capacity is unused, resulting in Capex waste because of inefficient utilization. Equally important is the Opex waste from the time and personnel resources needed to provision workloads in a scenario in which increased server consolidation process time results in higher costs.
A 2016 survey of IT managers revealed that 90 percent had confidence in cloud-based disaster recovery services versus a 74 percent confidence rate for on-premises solutions. Of the same group, half were leveraging the cloud for disaster recovery (DR) while 9 percent were only using cloud services.

Maintaining a competitive edge is important in today’s technology environment. Organizations can lose out to competitors if they fail to keep up with advances in technology. According to a recent report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), by 2020, 50 percent of the world’s top businesses, known as the Global 2000, will see the majority of their business depend on their ability to create digitally-enhanced products, services and experiences. IDC predicts that worldwide investment in digital transformation initiatives will reach $2.2 trillion in 2019, almost 60 percent more than in 2016.
Since there is more pressure on companies to decrease expenses—while simultaneously trying to bolster productivity and revenue—it has never been more important for them to find smart and affordable IT solutions to facilitate the digital transformation. Digital transformation means leveraging the opportunities that come with new technology and optimizing them to grow a business and make it more efficient.
Today many enterprises face the challenge of bridging business and technology to close the digital gap. As these enterprises utilize more digital channels to reach customers the technology to support these initiatives is often slow to keep up.
So how do enterprises close the gap and set their business up for success in the digital era? Here are a few tips:

A widely held but false belief or idea, otherwise known as a myth. Even though myths are untrue they are sometimes the hardest believe to dispel and prove wrong. As the evolution of cloud technology has grown into the IT phenomenon it is today many myths have come to fruition, and here are a few.
I remember it like it was yesterday, my first day at First National Technology Solutions (FNTS). Coming from the credit card processing industry I was excited to learn about IT and managed services. I attended the Monday morning staff meeting and about 10 minutes into it, I suddenly wondered to myself, "are they speaking English?" What is this LPAR, OS, Unix, Linux verbiage and what does it mean? And words I thought I knew the meaning of, don't mean the same in the world of IT.
With 2016 just days a way and 2015 coming to an end I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past year. From becoming a Cisco certified cloud and managed services partner to launching Microsoft SQL as a Service and platform as a service (PaaS), it has been a very busy year and I know there is more to come in 2016. However it goes above and beyond product launches and certifications - it is the people we partner with that makes our year truly successful. Our customers, business partners. vendors and employees - all a crucial part of First National Technology Solutions' success.
